I have lived in Houston, Austin, and Marble Falls, Texas, for more than 50 years. Studies in journalism, law, and horticulture; lots of political activism; and my “that-sounds-like-fun attitude” have given me lots of stories:
Attending a Ku Klux Klan rally with the KPFT news group in 1971;
Marrying for the first time when I was 62;
Renovating two old houses – one built in 1894 and the other in 1929;
Going to the first Willie Nelson Fourth of July Picnic;
Pruning roses at the American Rose Center;
Listening to Maya Angelou recite “On the Pulse of Morning” at Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993;
Working for the Sergeant at Arms office of Texas Legislature;
Staffing the information desk at Teas Nursery;
Editing a weekly newspaper for coalition of environmental groups;
